In the world of custom cars, there are few vehicles as unlikely as the Suzuki Mighty Boy. Yet, when Simon Birch unveiled his Battleship Grey Mighty Boy at Motorvation 36, jaws dropped, and eyes widened in disbelief. This wasn't just any Mighty Boy; it was a Motorvation Grand Champ, powered by an angry LS engine.

A Humble Beginning
Simon's journey with the Mighty Boy began with a simple goal: to build a $20,000 skid car. However, what started as a modest project soon evolved into something extraordinary. Simon's sense of humor shines through as he describes his build as "completely built at home by someone with no idea and is real dardy-like."

The Heart of the Beast
At the core of Simon's Mighty Boy is an LS98 engine, meticulously modified to produce 460 horsepower at the hubs. The engine features ported and decked heads, a Holley dual-plenum intake with twin 90mm throttle bodies, and a GM Motorsport Turbo Killer II camshaft. This Mighty Boy is no slouch in the performance department.

Innovation and Detail
Simon's attention to detail is evident throughout the Mighty Boy. A custom chassis, fabricated at home, houses the LS98 engine, a Rossler Turbo 400 transmission, and a narrow nine-inch rear end. To make servicing the driveline easier, Simon designed the front of the car to flip forward and the body to tilt up, revealing the meticulously crafted components underneath.

A Labor of Love
The exterior of the Mighty Boy underwent extensive modifications, including a new floor, firewall, and transmission tunnel. The interior, though minimalistic, is a highlight of the build, with wires creatively tucked into tubes for a unique aesthetic. The attention to detail extends to the cargo area, which now houses massive tubs and a sizeable fuel cell.

The Future of the Mighty Boy
While the Mighty Boy may have started as a skid car, its transformation into a Motorvation Grand Champ has elevated it to a new level. With its LS engine swap, custom chassis, and meticulous attention to detail, Simon's Mighty Boy is sure to continue turning heads and impressing crowds for years to come.

Acknowledgements
Simon credits several individuals and businesses for their contributions to the build, including Jason Meldrum at SOS Fabrication, Matt at Stock to Shock, James at Pro Shine, Jeff Johnson, Clive at The Hammer Works, and Nelg Taylor at Nelgs Ali, among others. Their expertise and support were instrumental in bringing Simon's vision to life.
