Renowned for their cutting-edge automotive masterpieces, Ringbrothers, the world-famous custom car builder and high-quality billet parts manufacturer, has unveiled their latest creation—the UNKL 1969 Mustang Mach 1. Debuting in the Flowmaster (Holley) booth at the 2019 SEMA Show, this one-of-a-kind Ford Mustang exemplifies the perfect fusion of road and race technology with a unique, race-inspired theme.
Power and Performance
At the heart of the UNKL Mustang is a monstrous 520-cubic-inch Jon Kaase Boss engine, churning out an impressive 700 horsepower. This high-powered engine is paired with a reworked Bowler six-speed Tremec transmission, ensuring seamless power delivery. A QA1 carbon-fiber driveshaft transfers this power to the rear wheels, while the car’s signature growl emanates from a custom stainless-steel Flowmaster exhaust.
Engineering Excellence
To maintain optimal performance, Prestone coolant keeps the engine at a steady operating temperature, while Motul engine oil and gear oil ensure everything runs smoothly. The Mach 1’s body is coated in a custom BASF paint called Big Boss Blue, meticulously applied over a smooth surface shaped with 3M products.
Ringbrothers extended the Mach 1’s body by an inch on each side, giving it a more aggressive stance without compromising its classic look. The body itself is a blend of carbon fiber and steel panels, reshaped to perfection by Ringbrothers. Custom touches include billet taillights, reshaped bumpers, trim, and bespoke engine-bay accessories, all machined at the Ringbrothers facility.
A Tribute to Family and Passion
The name "UNKL" is a nod to the Ringbrothers’ owner’s close relationship with his uncle, who significantly influenced his passion for cars. The race-inspired livery not only honors this bond but also serves a practical purpose when the car hits the track.
Advanced Suspension and Braking
UNKL is equipped with Detroit Speed Engineering’s Aluma-Frame front suspension system, which includes a cast aluminum cradle, custom-tuned steering rack, tubular suspension arms, and custom adjustable RideTech coilovers. The rear suspension features Detroit Speed’s QUADRALink system with RideTech shocks. Both the front and rear sway bars are also sourced from Detroit Speed. To handle all that power, stopping is managed by Baer’s massive 6S Extreme calipers.
UNKL rides on custom forged HRE Wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires—295/35R-19 up front and 345/30R-20 at the rear—ensuring that this beast stays firmly planted on the road or track.
Race-Inspired Interior
The interior of UNKL, crafted by Upholstery Unlimited, continues the race-inspired theme with supportive Recaro seats, Ringbrothers billet components, an Ididit steering column, and gauges by Classic Instruments. The cabin stays comfortable thanks to a Vintage Air Gen IV Magnum evap kit, rounding out a car that’s as enjoyable to sit in as it is to drive.
