Rat Fink’s Zombie Nightmare: The Volvo Hemizon

If you’re into hot rods and gassers, get ready for a jaw-dropping ride. What started as a humble Volvo shell has been resurrected as something completely wild—the Volvo Hemizon. This monstrous creation is the brainchild of Henrik Larsson from Larsson Customizing, and it’s got Rat Fink himself shaking in his boots.

A Resurrection Like No Other
Pulled from the brink of destruction, the Hemizon began its life as a rusted-out Volvo Amazon shell. “There was no trunk, no fenders, no windows—just a shell,” Henrik recalls. This zombie of a car was brought back to life with pure metal artistry and a beast of an engine that would send shivers down any car lover’s spine.

The Hemizon looks like it’s straight out of a hot rod nightmare, with that jacked-up front end, massive rear slicks, and an intake so hungry it looks like it might swallow you whole. But this Frankenstein’s monster isn’t just about shock factor—Henrik built this machine with one thing in mind: BURNOUTS!

The Heart of a Beast: 331 Hemi Power
At the core of this metal monster lies a 331 cubic inch Chrysler Hemi V8 from 1954. Originally from a race car, Henrik knew he had to have it the moment he heard its ferocious growl. For months, it sat in his shop, roaring to life every Friday as the crew took turns firing it up just to enjoy its brutal, throat-ripping bark. This wasn’t just any engine—it was the last year Chrysler made the 331 without the extended bell housing, making it a prized piece of machinery.

Once the engine found its home in the Volvo shell, the Hemizon became a whole new beast. With a GMC 6-71 supercharger sitting on top and twin Edelbrock 650 carburetors feeding it fuel, the engine pumps out a brutal 400-500 horsepower. It’s not just about the numbers—it’s about how fast it delivers. The throttle response is instant, and the roar of the Hemi is enough to make the ground shake.

Built for Chaos
From the Hoosier NASCAR slicks on the rear to the skinny drag car tires up front, every inch of this build screams **function over form**. The front axle is a lightweight hot rod setup, and Henrik even considered moving the radiator to the rear to shift more weight for better burnouts. This is a car that’s built to smoke tires, plain and simple.

Inside, it’s no less insane. The green-tinted plexiglass windows give the cockpit an eerie glow, while the hand-rolled sheet metal door panels bring an almost alien level of craftsmanship. Everything in this car is custom—from the fabricated floor to the quilted metal door cards. Henrik’s passion for metalwork is clear, and his unique creations are a testament to his skills.

Rat Fink’s Worst Nightmare
Imagine this: Rat Fink, the king of hot rods, stuck in a twisted dream where he’s behind the wheel of a Volvo. Not just any Volvo, but a zombie-like creation that defies the rules of hot rodding. That’s exactly what the Hemizon is—a rule-breaking, heart-pounding machine that shouldn’t work, but somehow does.

With every burnout, every throttle punch, and every roar of the Hemi, the Hemizon turns heads and leaves a trail of rubber and chaos in its wake. It’s art in motion, a beautiful nightmare brought to life by a man with a love for metal and madness.
